IMW 5.3 Parameters for ESU LP Installation Flow

The following tables contain all parameters required for IMW installation. Some parameters may not be applicable to particular installation scenarios.

Select ESU LP network setup type Direct Connection/Network Installation The type of network connection between your ESU Launchpad laptop and the server:
  • Direct Connection - the ESU Launchpad laptop is connected to the server via a flat switch
  • Network Installation - the ESU Launchpad laptop is connected to the server via a default gateway within your network
ESU Launchpad Network setup - type=Direct Connection

Modify these parameters only if you set the network setup type to Direct Connection.

Launchpad Windows IP for communication with ESXi The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255.

The IP address used for communication between the ESU Launchpad Windows virtual machine and ESXi during the installation. It must be in the same subnet as the ESXi IP address.

If you use the same laptop to connect to ESXi or iLO, ensure that the Launchpad Windows IP for communication with ESXi is not the same as the IP configured for communication with ESXI or iLO on a laptop interface.

Launchpad Windows IP for communication with iLO The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255.

The IP address of the ESU Launchpad Windows virtual machine used for communication with iLO. It must be in the same subnet as the iLO IP address.

If you use the same laptop to connect to ESXi or iLO, ensure that the Launchpad Windows IP for communication with ESXi is not the same as the IP configured for communication with ESXI or iLO on a laptop interface.

Launchpad Windows NIC2 IP for communication with IMW VMs The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP address of the ESU Launchpad Windows virtual machine used for communication with the IMW virtual machines. This IP needs to be in the same subnet as the UNS_APP IP addresses of the virtual machines.
Launchpad RHEL NIC2 IP for communication with IMW VMs The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP address of the ESU Launchpad Linux virtual machine used for communication with the IMW virtual machines. This IP needs to be in the same subnet as the UNS_APP IP addresses of the virtual machines.
ESU Launchpad Network setup - type=Network Installation

Modify these parameters only if you set the network setup type to Network Installation.

Launchpad Windows IP for communication with Default Gateway The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255.

The IP address of the ESU Launchpad Windows virtual machine used for communication with default gateway. It must be in the same subnet as the default gateway address.

If you use the same laptop to connect to ESXi or iLO, ensure that the Launchpad Windows IP for communication with ESXi is not the same as the IP configured for communication with ESXI or iLO on a laptop interface.

Launchpad RHEL IP for communication with Default Gateway The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP address of the ESU Launchpad Linux virtual machine used for communication with the default gateway. This IP needs to be in the same subnet as the UNS_APP IP addresses of the virtual machines.
Subnet mask for communication with Default Gateway Subnet mask in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The subnet mask of the network used for communication with the default gateway.
Default Gateway IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP address of the default gateway within your network used by the ESU Launchpad to communicate with the server.
UNS Network General
Subnet mask for UNS_APP Valid subnet mask in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The subnet mask of the network on which IMW virtual machines communicate with one another and with ESU Launchpad.
Subnet mask for MGMT Valid subnet mask in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The subnet mask of the MGMT network. Each IMW virtual machine has an MGMT interface, which can be used used for virtual machine management, including communication with ESXi, remote logon, sending traps, and error log reporting.
VLAN ID for UNS_APP and NTP port group purposes 0-4095

VLAN ID for communication with the UNS_APP interface and the NTP server.

If VLANs are not used in your system, leave the default value (0).

VLAN ID for MGMT port group purposes 0-4095

VLAN ID for communication with the MGMT network interface.

If VLANs are not used in your system, leave the default value (0).

UNS_APP gateway IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The default gateway for routing external traffic for all IMW virtual machines.
DNS Primary suffix DNS Primary suffix must be between 4 and 253 characters. Must consist of strings separated by dots. Every string must start with a letter or a digit and can consist of:
  • letters (a to z, A to Z)
  • digits 0 to 9
  • special characters: - (hyphen)
For example: uns.city.gov, organization.org

Domain suffix for all IMW virtual machines.

In the redundant configuration, the value of this parameter must be the same for both IMW installations.

For IMW deployed with Dimetra IP systems, type the following domain:

service.zone<x>, where <x> is the number of zone in the Dimetra IP zone zore to which IMW is logically assigned, for example service.zone1.

IMW Datacenter ID

Digits 0-9

It is not recommended to use 0, but instead use 1 for the non-redundant or first redundant server, and 2 for the second redundant server.

Number assigned to the IMW system on one physical server that includes all the virtual machines (DNS, LB, PB, CAB, Identity Server, Database, IMW Core, AEs, and Messaging Server).

Datacenter ID is attached to the name of each virtual machine, as in core<IMW Instance ID><Logical IMW Instance><IMW Datacenter ID>, for example core1a-2, if Datacenter ID is set to 2.

This number is used by the DNS server to redirect the traffic to the correct IMW server, for example if IMW is deployed on two servers in the redundant configuration.

In the redundant configuration, each IMW server must have a different Datacenter ID, for example, the Datacenter ID on one server can be set to 1 and on the other to 2.

Logical IMW Instance Letters: A-B Leave the default value.
IMW Instance ID Digits 1-7 Leave the default value.
iLO Parameters
Parameter Allowed Values Description
iLO IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP address of the Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) on the ESXi server. The IP address must match the address configured during iLO setup.
Subnet mask for iLO Valid subnet mask in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The subnet mask of the network used for communication with iLO.
iLO gateway IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The default gateway for the iLO interface.
iLO user name

N/A

Do not change the default user name (Administrator).

The user name of the iLO administrator account. The iLO user name and password is printed on a sticker on the server or a tag attached to the server.
iLO user password N/A The password of the iLO administrator account. The password is printed on a sticker on the server or a tag attached to the server.
iLO hostname

Maximum 15 characters. Valid characters are letters (a to z, A to Z), digits 0 to 9, special characters: -

iLO domain name

The iLO domain name. See the IP plan for your system or contact your system administrator for details.
iLO DNS server IP address The IP addresses in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. DNS Server IP addresses for iLO. Allows the iLO to perform hostname resolution. See the IP plan for your system or contact your system administrator for details.
iLO NTP server IP address The IP addresses in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP of an external NTP server for iLO. See the IP plan for your system or contact your system administrator for details.
ESXi Parameters
Parameter Allowed Values Description
ESXi IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The ESXi IP address set up during ESXi configuration.
Subnet mask for ESXI Subnet mask in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The subnet mask of the network used for communication with ESXi.
ESXi root password Minimum 8 characters. At least one special character, one upper-case letter, and a number are required. The password for the root account on ESXi. The value in this field must match the password set up during ESXi installation.
Storage type LOCAL/DAS

The type of storage on which IMW will be installed. Depending on the configuration, your server may be equipped with local disks or it may be connected to an external storage device: Dot Hill 3520 (DAS).

Select DAS only if your system is equipped with external storage. Otherwise, select LOCAL.

ESXi host name

2 to 63 characters. Valid characters are letters (a to z, A to Z), digits 0 to 9, special characters: -

The hostname of the ESXi server. To obtain the name, see the IP plan for your system or consult your system administrator.
ESXi license key License key in the format of: <xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx> where the characters are alphanumeric. The license key for the ESXi hypervisor. Normally it is shipped with the system.
NTP server IP address The IP addresses in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The Network Time Protocol (NTP) server IP address used to automatically synchronize time settings on the server.
NTP server on ESXi Parameters

The IP address of the NTP server set up on ESXi during installation from ESU Launchpad. The NTP server is the time source for all virtual machines on the server.

NTP server on ESXi netmask Valid subnet mask in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The netmask of the network on which the NTP server communicates.
Time Zone Selection Parameters

VM Parameters
The Virtual Machines present in your configuration may vary depending on the type of deployment (High/Low Tier). The following parameters apply to all virtual machines:

UNS_APP IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP address of the UNS_APP network interface on the SQL database server. This interface is used for communication with client applications, other virtual machines on the server, or the redundant inter-UNS traffic. It is also used during the installation process.
MGMT IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. The IP address of the MGMT network interface. This interface is used for virtual machine management, including communication with ESXi, remote logon, sending traps, and error log reporting.
Load Balancer VM Parameters.
Additionally, you may configure up to 10 UNS_APP virtual IP addresses for internal communication between HA proxy and VMs of IMW.

Alternative FNE server IP address (optional) The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. Redundant IMW only: The IP address of the licensing FNE server used by the neighbor IMW in a redundant setup.
  • If you are installing the cluster-admin-console, set this to the licensing server used by the secondary IMW.
  • If you are installing the cluster-engine, set this to the licensing server used by the primary IMW.
Enable Common Address Book authentication Yes/No The Identity Server supports user authentication based on user credentials validation.

Select Yes if you want to store the user credentials in the Common Address Book (CAB) virtual machine in your IMW.

If you want to use credentials-based authentication, but store the credentials in a separate Active Directory server, select No and configure the Active Directory Server access after the system is installed. See the "Configuring the Identity Server " section.

This is the password to your cluster; required for replicating data between redundant Identity Servers.

A new password for the CAB Client configured on IDM.

It is recommended to change in ESU the Identity Service default password to a customer specific one during the system installation.

Will MASTER role be enabled? Yes/No Select yes if you are configuring the primary IMW system; select no if you are configuring the secondary IMW system in a redundant configuration or if your configuration is not redundant.
Provisioning Broker master IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255.

Provisioning Broker interface master IP address which provides information on the infrastructure organization.

In a redundant configuration, provide the IP address of the primary IMW system Provisioning Broker.

If your configuration is not redundant, this parameter is not required. Leave 0.0.0.0

DNS Parameters
Parameter Allowed Values Description
DNS type Selection: master or slave In a redundant IMW configuration, select the master DNS type if you are configuring the primary IMW system. The master Domain Name Server must be configured as first.

Select the slave DNS type if you are configuring the other, geographically redundant IMW system.

Redundant DNS IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. IP address of the redundant IMW system Domain Name Server. Configuring this address allows the communication between IMW datacenters in a redundant configuration.

Secret key for DNS At least 14 characters long. UNS Location Archive Writer and Redundancy Parameters

Will redundancy be used? (Requires MS SQL Standard.) No/Yes Select Yes if you want to use this deployment of the IMW in a redundant configuration now, or in the future. This ensures a proper version of the MS SQL database is installed.
Install Archive Writer? (Requires MS SQL Standard.) No/Yes This option allows you to choose if you want to install the IMW Location Archive Writer. Archive Writer is software that allows storing historical location data.
MSSQL Standard Database license key License key in the format of: <xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx> where the characters are alphanumeric. The license key to your MSSQL Standard edition.
Number of historical location storage days 2–3650

The number of days for which the history of the location data will be stored.

The default value is 7 days.

Number of devices’ updates without telemetry 0–250000

The number of devices that will be reporting only location (not telemetry) data. The number in this field will be used to calculate the size of the Archive Writer database.

The default value is 2000.

Frequency of devices’ updates without telemetry 0–60 Predicted rate of location updates sent by one device in 60 seconds. To calculate the value required for this field, use the following formula:

60 / reporting time interval (seconds)

For example:

If the device is configured to report location every 30 seconds, then 60 / 30 = 2.

The value to be entered in this field is 2.

If the device is configured to report location every 120 seconds, then 60 / 120 = 0.5

The value to be entered in this field is 0.5.

The number will be used to calculate the size of the Archive Writer database.

The default value is 2.

Number of devices’ updates with telemetry 0–250000 The number of devices that will be reporting both location and telemetry data. The number in this field will be used to calculate the size of the Archive Writer database.
Frequency of devices’ updates with telemetry 0–60 Predicted rate of location updates sent by one device in 60 seconds. To calculate the value required for this field, use the following formula:

60 / reporting time interval (seconds)

For example:

If the device is configured to report location (and telemetry) every 30 seconds, then 60 / 30 = 2.

The value to be entered in this field is 2.

If the device is configured to report location (and telemetry) every 120 seconds, then 60 / 120 = 0.5.

The value to be entered in this field is 0.5.

The number will be used to calculate the size of the Archive Writer database.

Backup hour 1–24

If the Backup Files Directory option is enabled, the location history is backed up at the selected hour.

The default value is 2.

Purge hour 1–24

If the Backup Files Directory option is enabled, the location history is backed up and deleted from the IMW database at the selected hour.

If the historical location data backup option is not used, the data is removed permanently from the IMW database at the selected hour.

The default value is 1.

Backup files directory Backup files directory should be N/A (no backup) or a valid Windows path to a network directory ending with a backslash. The path should not point to a local drive C:\,D:\, or F:\.

The directory path for the location backup data. If the Backup Files Directory check box is selected, the history is removed from the IMW database when it exceeds the value defined in the Number of Historical Location Storage Days field and moved to the backup directory.

The backup directory cannot be located on local partitions used by the IMW applications to avoid taking up disk space required for correct IMW operation. The directory should be on an external or a network drive.

In the redundant configuration, provide a different directory for each server.

Dimetra and LTE Backup and Restore Integration Related Parameters.
The following fields are applicable to LTE and Dimetra IP deployments. If you are installing IMW with a different radio system, leave the default values and go to the next section.

This options allows you to choose if you want to enable the OPerational Agent (OPA) on the IMW Core and use the backup and restore services provided by the Dimetra Enhanced Software Update (DESU) framework. Backup and restore is handled by Master Upgrade Install Servers (UISs) in the Dimetra IP zone core. OPA is responsible for the registration to the UISs and executing commands on IMW.

LTE ESU BAR IP address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255. Providing this IP address allows you to configure the back and restore services of IMW system.
UNS Deployment type Primary/Secondary Select Primary for the non-redundant server or for the active server in the redundant configuration. Select Secondary for the standby server in the redundant configuration.
Zone ID 1-56 The Dimetra IP logical zone number in which IMW is deployed.
NAT IP for Master UIS cluster address The IP address in the form of <n.n.n.n> where <n> is a value from 0 to 255.

The cluster NAT IP address of UIS01 from the zone with lowest zone octet in cluster.

Enter the NAT IP to the following IP: 10.0.<CO>.67, where: <CO> is the cluster octet.

MotoMapping
Parameter Allowed Values Description
Install MotoMapping? No/Yes

The option allows you to choose if you want to install the MotoMapping server on the IMW core virtual machine.

If Yes is selected, ensure that the MotoMapping .iso file is loaded into ESU Launchpad.

You can verify it and upload the file after the configuration is created on the Installation Player website in the Files Storage pane.

Database MotoMapping user name Should be at least two characters long. Valid characters are letters (a to z, A to Z), digits 0 to 9.

The user name used by the MotoMapping Client to connect to the MotoMapping database. The same user name must be provided during the MotoMapping Client installation.

The default user name is MMUser.

Database MotoMapping user password

At least 14 characters long. Must contain characters from three of the following categories:

a–z

A–Z

0–9

The password used by the MotoMapping Client to connect to the MotoMapping database. The same password must be provided during the MotoMapping Client installation.

Hardening type Full/Transparent/None

The type of supplemental configuration.

If Full or Transparent is selected, ensure that one of the following files with supplemental configuration is loaded into ESU Launchpad:
  • UNS_SM_Full<version number>
  • UNS_SM_Transparent<version number>

The files are available on the IMW Supplementals disk.

You can verify it and upload the file after the configuration is created on the Installation Player website in the Files Storage pane.
